6. Holy Hill’s 178 Steps

What a welcome we have had in Wisconsin. Our host family, Drue and Steve are truly family; Drue’s mother and the grandmother we visited in Frankfort are sisters. So somewhere in there we are all cousins. Between the Rice Krispie treats and the Hot tub the kids are in heaven.

Today we explored some of Wisconsin starting with a trip to Holy Hill Basilica . This is an unexpected jewel in the middle of the lush countryside. We climbed all 178 steps to the top of the bell tower and the pristine weather allowed us to see for miles.

We lunched in Madison by a lake and watched many a new student moving in to their dorms at the University of Wisconsin. What an immense campus they have.

Our favorite activities are free activities and Madison happens to have a quaint free Henry Vilas Zoo.

After another fabulous meal the kids were able to try waterskiing and tubing on lake Nagawicka.
